Research suggests that the migration of healthcare workers out of Nigeria may negatively impact the healthcare sector as well as population health and well-being. We set out to conduct a project which used a scoping review of the literature and used digitally mediated qualitative research methods to explore the impact of care-migration on older adults living in Nigeria and their care-worker children living in the Global North. In this chapter, we describe the rationale for this project and the creation of Global North (Cambridge, England and Copenhagen, Denmark) and Global South (Calabar, Nigeria) collaboration. We also outline the theoretical framework and ethical considerations that guided our work, and reflect on the methodological and practical steps we took to identify potential community-based care solutions and initiatives that promote equity and improve the circumstances in which care is provided for migrant care-workers ageing in the Global North and their older relatives ‘at home’ in Nigeria.
